It's Never Over...Remember

I know, we all have a lot to say as one year ends and a new one begins, so what if we look at it a bit differently. Look at the past year as not being over but and the new one is an extension of the old one. Let them mesh into each other as do your dreams and plans for a future.
Don't think about not having reached a  goal because you promised yourself if you didn't do it in 2013, it would never happen. BULLY CRAPO !
Every year is just a extension into the next one as is your life. Your life is so precious that you can't quit, you can't give up and let go and forget all about your dreams. You see, I know someone who is right now hanging on because she worries that this is what her family wants, but she is tired and she wants to let go.
See the difference? Of course you do.

You are alive, so you have to find again that spark that brought a dream, a reason and purpose for you to want to accomplish that special something. Dig deep, relax, think and remember your dream. I Know many want to lose weight and never do, but NEVER isn't over yet  ! Don't quit trying ! You're alive. You have time.
So how do you keep trying after years of things not working ? Take a few quiet minutes, write down three things you love and one that you are very good at. Write me at doozybags@aol.com and we can hash it over together. YOU start by starting, and it doesn't have to be tonight or tomorrow. Do it in your time when you have that private and quiet, no one better bother me time.
     Happy New Year,
          I am Norwegian & Plaid

Just How Important Is She/He ? Don't Wait

Have you found yourself at any given time sitting alone and watching people ? Interesting huh ? But in that have you ever wished it was you ? If you have someone special in your life do not wait to make it permanent and don't keep them hanging because you're not sure.

Life is so short. Remember leaving High school and now, what age are you? See how fast time passes. If you are still just dating at four years chances are by next year you have split up. Married and approaching that 17 year mark but it looks rocky; It probably is so do yourself and spouse a favor-put life back into the one you loved when you married him or her.
At this writing I just received an e mail about a woman who is dying. Now she is ninety -one but in that it was told she never made plans for her final days as she was too busy living life. NOW that we can and should try to remember to do too.

Please don't waste time with petty differences and yes, that always easy for anyone to say and sometimes we only realize it when we lose, when we have lost, when our loved one is no longer with us.
Don't wait. Ask, receive and remain together in 2014

Pleeeeze Look !!!

Okay so I'm shameless, but come on ladies and gentlemen, I am just trying to promote my new site which is so much better and I have a young lady to thank for it at Time Banking in my community.
A few years ago I paid for a web site, well to redo one, and from the first site to the second, not one sale. I know many would say, shh ya don't tell that ya dummy, but I am an up front person. So with Time Banking I was able to have a site that not only looks professional, but it's attractive too.
      http://Nancymellow.wix.com/doozybagsbynancy
The person who made it gets hours in her account and I wanted to do something back which is not needed in Time Banking. I could at some point do something for anyone else. But here is what I made for her
I am very thankful as you will see on my new Wix Site

A Neighbors' Table

As I sat sharing brunch with some people I never met,(but may have seen before) I listened as one man spoke of his wife. She passed away, I believe he said in 2004/5, and he wasn't speaking in a way of "pity me" but more about a factual event in his life. We all had stories to share, some funny, some about food, people, things we celebrate and where we come from.
One lady had the softest southern accent, I felt like I just wanted to get in my Cooo Gah and take off to Tennessee. Actually I no longer have my Cougar, but I bought it from the same people, the mother-in-law who owned it and I was the lucky one to get it. Sure loved that car and nothing but good memories to come with it.
Getting back to this gentleman speak about losing his wife immediately brought me to my niece Laura. With My daughter sitting close by I wondered if she too was thinking the same thing. This man also mentioned his late wife a bit later on in the living room. But at the table, concerned with another chat he stated that his family was the church, the people, the pastor and his wife. He was so matter of fact, so sincere, I knew he meant that from the bottom of his heart. That made me think...what did I miss when I did go? Did I give it a fair chance or was I just done with Church. I honestly don't know. But I do know music plays a big part for church with me. Sure I'll never find that church I grew up in, yet I won't stop trying. That isn't to take away from the church I'm talking about. They have a mean band and some awesome voices, but I may still be searching.
I know too that I will be back from time to time at my special neighbors church, yet I have issues and get distracted easily or maybe I use that as an excuse. The music. At my niece's funeral two women sang songs, Bridge over Troubled Waters and You Raise ME Up. I knew then if all the music was even close to that at their church I will take a trip down there. I've know the pastor who officiated and he very much reminds me of the neighbor pastor. He is who he shows himself to be, honest and with Character, friendly, giving, not showy and above all else he loves God and his family.
Both of these men will help without asking, will do without expecting and won't preach at you or even to you, but will gently serve as an example and a reminder of who we all should strive to be more like.
This was a brunch as last year that I very much enjoyed and as we walked out the door, a little guy said we'll have this at our house next year-hey! Ya never know :) HE works in mysterious ways. ...and Miracles do happen :)

NINJA and GPS So Wow !!!!

I was very surprised this year to receive what I did, more than just gifts but another kid of a gift too. First my daughter came over Christmas Eve and stayed a couple of days which was great I have a little guy who is staying here for...well I don't know how long but it was nice to have gifts for a little one who as soon as he saw them all, stacked them and took to his room. I promised I would not steal them :)
As my daughter and I sat opening little gifts here and there, we were each happily surprised with what we gave one another, Little bags opened, boxes, smiles, oow and ahh's. One I never expected was a GPS. So AAA you have been replaced ! I loved it. Starting right away to see if I, miss confusion, could figure it out-well I did. That alone makes me love it even more. You know how it is when you can't figure out how to do something...comments like, oh this stupid thing. Nope, not now. Now it's..ah I'm a genius. We saved one each for Christmas morning.
Yesterday a sharp knock was heard at the door as I was just settling down and thought, wha...who could be coming here now and peeked through the curtain. No one, nothing could be seen so I opened up the door and saw a big box. Huh what the...bending down and getting a closer look it was a NINJA, blender & smoothie maker. It also does a lot more. I started looking at the two books that came with it and wanting to get back onto a road of healthy living, this will do it for me. But on line are recipes for easier access all geared to health living, so away I go.
Tomorrow is the day. After all I have to finish some of the uh..."stuff" that needs to be gone.
    Happy Blending. EEEE ahhh!

Sports Stars Vs. Duck Dynasty

I am watching The O'Reilly Factor at 8:22 Eastern time and listening to a black(Juan ?) man speak about Jessee Jackson, in an honest way-that Jackson is really looking to insert himself anywhere he can for money.
The regular newsman, this is also advertised as fox43, so I am again confused. All of this piece started out as being about Phil Robertson and Duck Dynasty's  24 hour marathon where Phil is supposed to be indefinitely suspended. Now as I stated in  a post, consequences come with being outspoken, principles or not, but good for you Phil and family.
Now lets go to another place, Sports stars and kids. How many sports stars/celebrities have used over and over again, steroids, performance enhancing drugs, beat and raped women, yet earn millions a year with little punishment.
Who's fault is all of this. The American Public=stupidity. The only thing that will change what we don't like is to stop buying tickets, stop buying sports memorabilia, stop paying crazy prices for people who offend, change the channel's, do not buy, do not buy, and do not buy from those who offend.
The owners of these teams are all saying we, The American Public will take any kind of crap;Let the rape our girls & women, let them take drugs, let them kill, let them drive drunk. let them carry guns because googly eye fans will still pay, they will still watch, they will still buy. Who are we to blame ? US!!!! IDIOTS !!!
Teach your children. You don't like what Phil Robertson says, Change the channel you idiots ! Make an example for kids to follow. Why do we have so many school shootings ? Look who we idolize-stupid, idiot, morons keep watching, continue to let kids see the same thing.
I will watch Duck Dynasty and I don't need to explain why to anyone. I won't buy anything sports related that I know has had an influence, negative on the American public's children.
OH let's take Hollywood while I'm at it. We love our favorite actors, but as adults we need to be cautious when we say front of our children, Oh I gotta see that!. We're adults and hopefully smarter. Teens brains have not developed yet, no until about age 22. So for God's sake, for G_D's sake, for Heavens sake-do the right thing for your kids, and for the future of all kids.  Change the channel, stop buying sports materials, sneakers too after all they're mostly made in China, Love your country, love your family and feet. Make better choice this year. Keep your money at home with you where you have earned it and don't spend on idiots!!!!

He was only 32 !

I know, what about old people, so take from this what you can and use it.
This morning I notice a picture of a young man. He was 32, jumped off his home in Brooklyn NY. But he was just thirty- two !  The possibility of anyone doing anything for him is slim at the time, but who knows. His family did say he was having a hard time again lately.
If someone wants to help a person with depression do this:
  • Give them your phone number
  • buy them a headset
  • talk to them about doctors & meds ( have they missed doses? )
  • see if they have family, family that is still family
  • ask about hobbies and give
  • see what you can do or others, like buy a months of bus passes
  • check out a local Mental Health Association
  • find out if they go to church
  • ask about education, books, vacations, journals, music
  • see if they like to garden and get a few garden boxes/containers
  •  ask if they are allowed to have a pet if they rent
  • be a friend
We lose too many young people because of mental health problems, loneliness, drug and alcohol abuses and I know we all do our best . As adults many will do as they're going to do anyway, so do what you can do.Maybe one day you will be that one person to change a life.

With Consequences, Hey Jack !

Earlier I spoke with my daughter who said it better than I, and I never brought it up to her. She too like so many love Duck Dynasty and the  character's who play themselves, maybe adding a little dumbness to themselves. I am big on America and free speech, but she added, sure free speech with consequences.
Yes there is as we see fallout from Phil Robertson's comments and maybe like kids who say inappropriate comments and get consequences in school and or at home, we as adults should too. Yet somehow it still doesn't feel right...why  get punished because of how we feel ? Am I missing something ? I see all sides here, but to me it still comes down to this, CHANGE THE CHANNEL
Do not make it so a few men take him off the air but show in unity as a whole if you agree or not by changing the channel or not. So he stays on the air and you don't like it-don't watch !
Hm, I wonder what Judge Judy would say about this :) Hey Jack, look who we vote for. There's always a consequence there too-or not. Last thought. Are they taking reruns off the air ?=residuals $$$$

TARGET-BAN or USE CASH

I like shopping at Target, but don't like how they were not prepared once again for what has happened with the use of credit/debit cards. This is a huge thing and they did not take precautions. WHY? It's not their money.
If you love Target so much, take cash out of the ATM-simple But if you were going to charge it-DON"T !!!!
Go elsewhere, KOHL'S for instance, HEY JACK !!! Go to K Mart ! They will make you Happy Happy Happy.
HEY Jack, looks like Target is a Target !!! That is not happy happy happy

Clay Aitken vs. Phil Robertson, Happy Happy Happy

Last night I listened to Clay Aitken comments about Phil Robertson. He was very sincere, not attacking, just as Phil Robertson was, but speaking his mind. I really like Clay since I first heard him sin and he has a great voice, is also gay. Just like Phil Robertson they are from opposite side so they each have a right to free speech.
Clay's perspective was that he has heard so much that this is about free speech, but he disagrees and stated where does it end. What if remarks were about kids? He was also a teacher of children with special needs. He again said what if it was about...and I forgot that part but it stuck out about children.
We don't do enough to protect children in this country, but to compare what Robertson said to free speech and kids is a bit off. If a grown man verbally attacks a kid he deserves what he gets, but Robertson was speaking to hopefully educated to some degree, the adult public.
So in his own right, same as anyone else in AMERICA, Clay Aitken used free speech and the media, Arsenio Hall's TV show. I am usually no up that late but  happy happy happy I was.
( excuse me Clay if I mispelled your name ) Freedom of the press

B Thankful on Craigslist Instead of

I'm not a big fan of Craigslist things except stuff for sale, but I used to look at the rants and, well crazy people venting area. Once I even vented about a freaking bigot neighbor across the street.
So why not for one week or from now until New Years day 2014 go on Craigslist , to the Rant section and don't complain, don't rag on anyone, no nasty crap, nothing vulgar, but compliment people, be thankful and let others know you have some class.
You think you don't have anything to be thankful for? How about a few suggestions ?
  •     Health
  •     Eyesight
  •     Freedom
  •     You're alive
  •     Cancer free
  •     a warm home
  •     Friends
  •     freedom of religion
  •     you're an American
  •     Someone loves you
  •     i'm sure there are many things you can think of- Happy and Healthy New Year

Communism & Christmas

I never ever thought I'd use those words together, but reading once again how people are "offended" at others putting Christmas lights up on their own property. Where do they think they are ? China ? No that's where you buy all your crap=same thing ! You Support all of "Those" countries and things, but God Forbid you support your own country where we have RIGHTS!!!! SCREW YOU PEOPLE.
If you want so much shut down that you don't like, that offends you, that you can't stand, words, religions, freedoms, then take your freaking ass, and go live in CHINA. I for one and sick of this Bull S__T !!!
HEY JACK, HEY JACK, HEY JACK !!!!!!! Robertson Family, Phil and everyone else, YOU GO MAN!!!!
You OFFENDERS, close your freaking eyes, shut your mouth, change the channel if you can read the numbers-get an education on the RIGHTS of this Great Country and finally...SIT ON IT !!!!!

Can ya Dig it ? So NEW wwwwwww

Check out this site that a person made for me for free. She didn't charge her time, all of her e mails to me, all of her patience to me and she works too ! But please look at how this site looks compared to my old not so nicely made Doozybags.com
Here is the one Jenn made
nancymellow.wix.com/doozybagsbynancy   This photo below shows that way on my old site-but look at it in the new site link-looks so professional and pretty !!! Reduced prices too !

This also has to do with Time banking, how I met Jenn, a stranger, now a friend who lives not too far from me by chance

In Support of Gay Marriages

How many opened this to see what would be said ? Well I don't have much to say but to prove a point. See what or who's side you're on, all about free speech. If I was for Gay marriages, those in favor would be happy about my title, but I'm not in favor of gay marriages.
If you want to have a union with another person, make it just that, a union/partnership. Yeah I know. People think they have a right to marry. Fine that's your opinion and you are entitled to free speech, free thoughts and living in America ! So honestly, my opinion doesn't count, not one iota. You don't affect my life and I don't affect yours. Just live, be happy and healthy and stop this crap where people don't have a right to voice there own opinion.
Everyone is different from everyone else, Many, so many have been persecuted because of difference, Polish, Italians, Blacks, Puerto Ricans Whites, the Sick, Elderly, Old, Young, Fat, Skinny, Ugly, Handsome and Beautiful, Alcoholics, Drug Addicts. Religions, and guilty by association s.
None of us are without have received some kind of bigotry and or persecution, discrimination. I know the depth of this is different for some, worse for others and still minimal for many,...
.....   so, more important in all of this is to raise your children not to have your hatreds. Raise them to have open minds, to love, care, share and give, to help, to always help.

Phil Roberts' Anti-Gay Comments-free speech !

Why is it when someone states how they feel about gender, race, religion or anything in particular people get up in arms and feel "they can't say that". So why is it THEY can say what THEY want about anyone who opposes whatever.
People, get off your high horse and remember we live in America and have a right to feel what we feel and speak, how we speak. Try to remember Phil Robertson has a right to his free speech just as much as anyone.
Now I know bleeding hearts will try to condemn this man for his feelings, take him off the air and so on. What does that make you ? That makes you someone who is not tolerant of others as you charge Phil Robertson and your answer is he does not have a right to free speech but we do. Well screw you ! Screw you all.
Men and women fight and die for your free speech but you will be the first to deprive others of it. Do something with while in life other than attack a person for his mouth. Help the poor, the cripple, the dying. feed the homeless, dress those who need it, give to those who need a hand, not a big attacking mouth.
If you can't be part of the solution, go live in China !

Blake Shelton's Hair

Blake Shelton's Hair

Hair, what is it good for
Waves and parts a smile or two
but only on a certain guy
Blake Shelton, not me or you

He has that hair, that killer hair
that we all wish we had
just to brush at night
but we don't, so sad

Blake is not just any guy
that's what we tell ourselves
he's a country music star
with hair like ocean swells

Come on Blake
give me your comb
so just once, only one time
I can take it home.

That Globe

That Globe

There was a man who owned a globe

Round and blue and pretty

It sat so visible on his desk

As he handled it like Walter Mitty

Memories of around the world

And dreams that come and go

Of traveling all about the globe

Seeing places a globe would show

I heard the music and language imagined

As he nimbly handled the blue

Prints of states and countries there

Dancing and costumes too

 A Vast amount of water

Filled spaces on the globe

Around the world oceans deep

Lands of weathers’ warm and cold

So now I can only sit

And think about That Globe

The one we know should be mine

After all-I’m getting old .

Dec.11, 2013

Dec.11, 2013

The first day I woke up

Slowly I knew this day

Just over a month now

That she passed away

I walked into the kitchen

And filled a pot of water

                                                                And then I remembered,

                                                                    my sisters’ only daughter

I felt the guilt in seconds

That I woke today

And didn’t think instantly

Of the day she passed away

She was too young, so much so

The grief is hard to bear

Yet I know she knew we loved her so

Always smiling, with long blond hair

Her brother said at her funeral

I miss her so much already

She always said she had killer hair

And loved to have her teddy

Sleeping and carrying a teddy bear

She did this all the time

Friends and family knew she loved

That bear, her friends in line.

All the memories return, as guilt was felt today

When I forgot to remember, my niece who passed away

Although it was only minutes, the memory set in stain

Losing Laura hurt us all, a life lost in vain.

P.S. Her life was not in vain

But the loss, seems the same

What Station is Jesus On ?

What Station is Jesus On?

As I sat and watched TV

I saw a figure, familiar to me

But then I switched from that  station

And listened to a conversation

As I passed by the image

I noticed Jesus standing there

But again I changed the station

Thinking without a care

Once again I went back to see

 What I thought I saw

He was waiting again for me

Knowing I’d open the door

It happened to be a station

And sometimes it was a tree

But the most important thing I knew

 He is there for me.

Jesus can be anywhere

And it seems He really is

So never turn your back on Him

But change your station to His.

What a Rehearsal

What a Rehearsal!

Unexpectedly a call came

Sadness enveloped him

And he knew it was time once again

To rehearse and hold up his chin,

Hearing in a background

Oh no, I’m sorry, what can I do

Words never enough, never

To just get you through.

Rehearsal like the choir

Rehearsal like a wedding you see

But nothing like a death

Is enough rehearsal, for you or me.

He knows he cannot cry

He cannot shed a tear

He has to be so strong

Rehearsing without fear

He will face those who loved

And all of those who lost

A child, a friend, a special someone

Buried in winters frost

Standing tall and seeming strong

A last good-bye has come along

Grief endless and pain alone-Rehearsal for a life, a life now gone.

Now Still...a poem

Now Still

Do you remember, do you?

Now still forever and ever

Chained grief

Tears now still

No longer able to cry

Laying on a hill

But someone else will cry

Someone else will laugh

Someone else will always remember

The smile

Now still

Someone else will dance

Someone else will sing

Yet they too hold in lasting sorrow

As you sleep on the hill

We will dance, and laugh, and cry and sing, and remember

As you sleep on the hill

And we will remember.

I looked into The Mirrow...a poem

I looked into The Mirror

I looked into the mirror

And there I saw your face

It was plain as day could be

I wasn’t in your place

I saw your face in my view

Filled with so much pain

Your heart was still inside of me

Your loss all in vain

I looked into my mirror

and saw you standing there

agony inside you

your child no longer here

Why are you I my mirror

Except to remind me so

The ache you feel inside of you

Won’t ever let you go.

A Child's Truck...a poem a day

A Child's Truck

Have you seen my truck today?
or did my truck drive away?
I looked under my bed this morning
and on the porch as light was dawning.

I played with it all of yesterday
waiting for it to drive away
it wouldn't go where I thought
was it because it was bought?

Like people my truck is sometimes pretty
and some people live in New York City
I saw trucks drive in the street
where people cross and trucks will sweep.

I saw trucks in the country too
I wanted to travel with drivers who
saw the world with their big truck
but my dad said I have to grow up.

Have you seen my truck today
I now keep it under my bed
and when I go to sleep at night
I keep driving in my head.

I think I'll take my truck and I will pack it full
Inside I'll put a pillow and a blanket made of wool
I'll add some snacks,  and a map of course
and I'll also take along my very happy horse.

Good night mom and good night dad
Thank for imaginations you both have
you gave me dreams to wish about
when I grow up in my own house

I'll teach my kids like you taught me
to take your trucks seriously
I'll give them ideas and happy times
show all my trucks in neon limes

Reds and greens, blues and browns
show them the city and country towns
show them roads on all kinds of maps
cars and trucks without mishaps

Have you seen my truck today-or did my truck just drive away?

Baby's Shoes...a poem

Baby’s Shoes

From zero to one

the story starts here

A baby’s shoes

Growing year after year

I held her so close

She wouldn’t let go

But her shoes needed room

More room to grow

Along comes a brother

From zero to one

Now another story

Has just begun

I held him close too

As he wiggled and stretched

To move a ball for puppy to fetch

Now baby girl and brother too

Growing so fast with baby bare feet

Growing so fast with baby shoes

I can’t let go, my babies’ I need.

From zero to eight, they seem the same

One’s a daughter, the other a son

Life moved too fast, but I kept their shoes

From Zero past one.

Lonely Teenager, A Poem a day...

   Lonely Teenager

He walked with shoulder's slumped down
a Hoodie, now known on his head
He seemed to stand out more than others
yet felt like he was dead.

She was different than her friends
who teased her all day long
they said she never really knew
how to, sing their song.

They said he never was quite like them
that he looked funny too
and he even talked weird to people
but he was just lonely, like you.

They said she wore her hair so long
and she walked her kind of gait
so they never bothered to ever know
her inside, her love of faith.

Next time you see a kid so weird
and doesn't seem like you
take the time to be a friend
That's what really counts too.

Look inside yourself, in the mirror today
look past the eyes you see, your clothes for the day
look past the friends who are just fake, walking on popular street
and take another look at those, who really don't want to compete.
Look and look again
Be honest with who you are
Open up the palm of your hand
Get to know the person, see the shining star.

Christmas Tears-A poem a day....

It comes to your door every year
sounds of winters' wind and cold
and the lonely sit and remember
life past as they grow old.

Christmas tears to all who see
life without love and home
but memories left to think through
about all of those who are alone.

Christmas tears in and out
young children homeless too
wondering why they no longer feel
love from all that's due.

It comes to your door every year
now open up and see
all the children on the street
who need, you and me and He.

Wrap your arms in love
an invisible hug or two
show your heart, weep within
for every child who needs you.

Christmas tears from them we know not
young, old, hurting and passed away
Let this year open us up
Past Christmas a year, a month, and a day.

Bless This House oh Lord We Pray

Remember that song ? Not just an oldie but better than a goodie. As time and memories of people pass, you will see people who is alone. Many like it just like that and many don't. At the end of every year, TV stations play and show photos of all of those we know as celebrities in one way or another, who have died.
Yes, they are people too, but what about the moms and dads who have lost sons and daughters in the military, or in sickness or accidents ? What about losing a parent too young, or a child at that tender age-any age is tender. A Child is a child.
Hearts seem to break harder at this time of year. Why? Because most are happy and those who have lost someone who is precious, who has shared memories and who is loved, is no more. How do you offer a paper wrapped gift when the best gift all parents are given is a child ? How, how can you possibly offer a paper wrapped gift ?
What you can offer is yourself. Go and just be. Let tears flow, and words of sorrow seep through tears of anguish. Hold them if you can, make tea, sit and listen. If you can, tell about your times. They need to hear it too. Pray, pray and pray some more for God to bless that home that no longer seems like a home. After all, what is a home without the spirit of a child no longer here ? Empty.

Really ,a Best Friend?

Lately I have been hearing about being someones best friend.  Over and over one after another I heard what best friends they were, yet one is gone, and it may not have been prevented no matter what.
They brag on social media about being best friends. Really ? How is it you are a best friend to a person who has addictions and participate with them. You don't unless one of two things. You're not a best friend at all, not even close or you have your own addictions. Misery loves company.
The people left behind are the real best friends, the ones who didn't participate with the addictions, but went out to eat or shop or just spend time, it was the parents, aunts, uncles, brothers and one very special cousin, maybe a few I didn't know about because other cousins are pretty good people too.
Yet those best friends are seen once again on social media pages at the same places, no longer wounded but participating again with another who may also be addicted. When do we learn? When does it stop? Be a real best friend. Walk away from those places. Meet at a restaurant, a movie, your home, go bowling  and so much more in life that's available.
Think about happiness, real, not under the influence happiness, or phony friends. Be a better friend, because your kind of friendship is a dime a dozen.
