Vegan vs. Drs. and Skin Care= Hypocrites

Opening my screen page this morning I noticed a giant ad for skin care and it looks by all appearances something worth reading. A heart surgeon introduces himself and starts talking about a motorcycle guy who lost weight and also noticed how his skin cleared up. I'm not going to bore you with all of the bluster. It was only a minute or so in that I wonder, what is this guys selling but I have patience, and waited, and waited, Finally he gets to what he's selling.

But he made a huge mistake this doctor Mundry ? In the middle and yes, I'm glad I did listen for so long as the good doctor stated," look at Vegans, their skin glows".

So why in the world would anyone need supplements? He also stated that good skin comes from the inside out.  Yup, in the food we eat.  Good Luck and try to eat more greens!

It Only Takes You

How much we have or how little we have, we have a lot if someone loves us, if everyone has reasonably good health and if you haven't recently lost someone, then you and I have a lot.  But if any of these things affect you or someone you know, then what do you do? What?
I don't know what really but I do know those who have a real serious faith do much better than those who don't. How do we believe someone is in heaven when they didn't lead a heavenly life you might ask...well, maybe because they had a heavenly heart. Only God really knows.
Right now I know a man who cares for his uncle's needs in many ways and the uncle is in his eighties. This man is fighting cancer, yet he runs, walks, golfs and who knows what more he's doing. The nephews is so proud of his uncle. That's also faith. They just never quit.
Now there are hungry people, and people who simply need a friend. Just be careful how you approach them. People have pride and don't like charity. Yes, I know pride goeth before the fall. Haven't we all tripped one time or another? Still there are also people who are lonely, lonely in their own family and those who are so wealthy they become cold hearted and sometimes the poor are as bad, due to pride, but find a way and not because it's a holiday, but because we are human.
Know too that many people do not have any religious affiliation at all, don't believe in God at all or a higher power. It takes one moment of friendship, one small miracle, one birth, one saved life to show that miracles to come. That works the opposite when someone dies especially a young person. How do you tell a mom or dad and more that there is a purpose to this, much less God had a hand in it? You don't. You let them grieve and talk out as they need to, say what they feel and be there, for  a very long time.
Remember if someone loves you, even if they're not physically close you have more than many, so be more than many to just one person, any day of the year. Here's to you Victoria and Samantha !

Live Raw by Mimi Kirk, sooo good

Okay I don't get the hands coming together like that, but seems a lot of people are doing it as if they forgot what they were taught, if this is about prayer.
Now to the book. Out of boredom the other day I picked this up off the shelf, never opened it as I was more interested in wood stuff. I took it home anyway with another veggie book I barely glanced at. That one is going back asap.
This morning, I opened Live Raw. This is so well done I am anxious to jump start myself by making smoothies. A few she has on one page just have three and four ingredients, not like so many others who have six, seven and eight. With that I might as well make a great salad.
Live Raw is more than eating raw. It's about your life and what we got away from, how to redo things and I know most of us won't use all of what's in any book, because we are we and unless you move three thousand miles away to some island, it's close to impossible to make as many changes as books suggest.
My plan for today is after visiting a boy who is away to go right to my grocery store by my home, a health food store to jump start fresh foods. I already have nuts, raisins and frozen berries, so all I need is celery, kale and spinach and yes, some apples. This book is on amazon and I did order it. But for now a library copy will work just fine. Try it, you might like it and isn't this great weather to get things in gear. One last thing...my bike will be on the road again soon too.

77 yrs.old, No Meds, 45.Co-Pay

As I walked over to the Deli isle to pick up spinach flat bread, A womans' voice said, "I never thought I'd  see you here". I joked very little and said me too, usually I come early mid week so I don't see anyone. She said she was sorry. Oh crapola I thought, I didn't mean to hurt her feelings and in turn I apologized and said well, I'm off. I like to get in, shop quickly and out. But guilt set in and I made a mental note to be nicer next time I see her.
As I'm leaving there she was again next to me. This time I slowed down. I would see her at my local post office from time to time walking with a walker. Today she had a cane. I asked on the way out, so are you feeling better using a cane? Then it came, rushing as if a flood. "No", she said, "my walker broke and I can't get another one yet because I need to go to the doctor but I can't afford the forty-five dollar co-pay."
Oh Crapola again. She went on, "I'm seventy-seven years old and my husband died five years ago, so my daughter helps by paying rent but not much and I still don't have money."  We finally got out of the store and I asked her a few questions about , would she sit down with someone who could work out a plan so she wouldn't have to go without meds and doctor visits. She wouldn't. She told me, I'll see you at the post office and  my address is---- so now you know where I live. I just said okay, thanks.
I watched her walk off to her vehicle and thought well at least she can drive and afford that to give her some freedom. But I got in my car and thought about her giving me her address. Why would she--- oh, okay, she wanted to  stop in and visit-maybe? That wasn't like me and I knew I wouldn't, but I did know that soon, I could put some money in an envelope and leave it for her at the post office. I know that wasn't her reason for telling me. Sometimes ya just have to vent and only want an ear, someone to understand and know that just because
your venting doesn't mean you want something for nothing. Old people and kids are the loneliest people. Sometimes people think old people just want to be left alone, and many do and sometimes people think,  how can a kid be lonely? Walk in their shoes and you'll know why.
I rode home thinking long and hard about her and how fortunate I am. I know doctors have to be paid and maybe her doctor doesn't know her situation, but people can make payment plans, yet, how do you even do that if you just don't have the money. I remember her one small bags of groceries, her look of helplessness and the sign at the check-out asking for food bank donations. I make it my business each time to tack five bucks on, but usually if the cashier asks, or I just don't think about it.
People might look at her and think, wow this lady sure has enough to eat, but I know how poverty is. I came from a large family and we all ate well every day and we even had apples and oranges, but that didn't mean my parents never made those big pot meals to stretch the budget. About three times a week we had, a pot of pea soup with either potatoes or sliced hot dogs in it, loads of bread and butter, then we'd have pizza sandwiches, very filling and of course some chicken or mac and baked cheese.  I still love Pea soup. Whew! Just think about that makes me want to go to the local convenience store and buy two containers of mac n cheese, and then, I think  about that forty-five dollar co-pay. There but for the Grace of God go I.

ATM's , Asthma, and more...

Today started off almost as usual. Hand pain through the night, and hand splints seem not to help much anymore. Either way I think I have to try harder and longer and do more to help self;  don't we all?
So before I left I went on -line and checked my back account, then went to the local convenience store. Right away went to a mac machine aka ATM, not one of the branch machines but still okay. I tried once and then again. Yet I also knew my hands were hurting and maybe I did something wrong. So I went to the store clerk, explained it all and we went to the machine and it gave me my balance and then some money once I checked the amount.
But I never check my balance at the machines so I must have hit that button accidentally and what I saw surprised me. It showed a shortage, an amount that shouldn't have been. I decided to take care of it at home. I went to the clerk to pay for something prior to, in between at the machine to make sure my card was working)yes I left that part out) It was working. So here I was back with the same clerk, not the one who went to the machine with me. She attributed it to the fact that my hands were not working as well and I thought that could be possible. Anyway, this other clerk. Well I was concerned as she didn't look quite herself. Her face and neck was very red, almost like heatstroke. I asked her if she was okay. She said well kind of. It's so hot in here and I have Asthma. WOW!
That really put things into perspective. She described it as someone putting a plastic bag over your head and trying to breathe. I really can't imagine what's that's like and no, I'm not putting a bag over my head no matter how many may ask:) But it comes back to that knowing, just when you think you have it tough.... Oh the bank machine? I went home, got on-line and checked my balance and it showed a shortage. I called the bank, spoke to someone who said, and pay attention please-she said, when this happens the machine catches it at some point and will correct itself, but it can take some time. I appreciated that answer and now will just wait. All in All, it was a good day to remind me...
Just when I think things are tough...

Happy New Year! Resolutions?

2012 is here, and making resolutions is a good idea, even if you stick to them or not. At least you do think about trying. Mine are simple, to wake up every day and make every day a better day, to do whats right for my body, and hopefully help someone else in some kind of battle they may be going through. Heaven knows I haven't this far done what right for my body, although my doctor has said many times that I must be eating right. I love protein, too much coffee, not enough if any exercise.
Two days after Christmas I got sick, still feel the blahs, but during this time, I haven't had any coffee and am trying to keep it that way. I haven't eaten much at all with the exception of last night, cookies, a pint of ice cream (which made me hack like crazy) and of course ginger-ale, my favorite soda when I do have soda.
What I do know about resolutions is hopefully they make us better people and that's really all that counts. When we become better people we put aside the material things is life, the brand name clothing, fancy restaurants, and just living a high life. I'm not against having fun at all and we do want nice homes, apartments or houseboats and brand names if made in the US to support our people. Where ever you live and how you live is your business, the same as it is mine. But this year I have decided to declutter my life a lot, along with taking better care of me so I can offer me to help if anyone needs or wants it.
Life is too short for some; unexpected health problems happen like being hit in the face with a brick. Be a good friend to whom ever. Show you care by buying a dinner, lunch and walk away. It's not a time for being social. It's not a time for showing off, but for staying in the background. Give that friend a ride, wait outside, listen, bake something, clean and just do. Don't pat yourself on the back. Your friend has silently done that and do what you can for the right reasons, because you're needed and end it with that. Why? Because you're healthy enough to do all of those things in this New Year.
