Good Saturday Morning everyone. As you can see I have two ladybug bibs. They have Velcro closures at the neck and excuse the photos but check them on etsy and they may be in a different format. My prices are very good, fair and better than that all of my products are triple stitched. The walker bag is hippie style and hangs over a walker with side Velcro closures and has a zippered pocket.  Thanks for looking

AML-8 Types, Deadly

Recently a young guy I knew passed away from AML, a type of cancer/leukemia that studies show, if you're very young or older than sixty, your chance of survival is higher, but if you're between twenty-five and forty-five you have a five window and the chances are higher you won't live.
Last night I was talking to my friend who just lost her son, and her husband was killed two days before her son died. The enormous grief, I can't imagine.
She taught me, that there is more than one type of AML. Sandy let me know about eight different types of AML. She is sitting and reading all about this now as she did before her son died. But then is was mainly about the type her son had.
She is returning to work next week. How does a grief stricken parent go on. Yes, I know, a day at a time. But I wonder about cancer research. Where are we?

My first memory of cancer was so many years ago, I was just a child. Cancer research has come a long way, but why aren't we told enough. Oh sure every so often we hear a little bit but even then it's just something like, detection early for survival. That is great, but what about a cure?  A cure for cancer so people don't even have to go through it.

A guest doctor was on the Dr. OZ show a few days ago. He stated that he and Dr. OZ are outdated about cancer. He stated invasive procedures make cancers spread, that if left alone they will just go away. I wouldn't want to take that chance. But what he did say and what we are learning is we are born with cancer cells, so in order to not let them grow, we need to eat what God provides, not food with preservatives, and not food that has been altered, frozen,  or colored such as cereals.
Me? I'm still working on it, a day at a time.

Cancer, Kids, Food and Chemo

I have to start this by mentioning kids. Why do kids get cancer? I know, you're think why does anyone get cancer? I want to make as much of this positive. Look at all of the kids at St. Judes hospial for children, so imagine a hospital for kids with cancer? That's a lot of kids, and Thank you Danny Thomas and Marlo Thomas for keeping this hospital free of charge for families.
So is it nature vs. nurture concerning getting cancer at such a young age. When we take into account the surroundings of where and how children grow, how they eat, play and what they live close to, I think how much society has to fight to be aware, learn and educate themselves concerning treatments and prevention, with prevention first.

I do think prevention is possible and while this is just a personal opinion I wonder how many people who get cancer and live in cities live longer than the same people who live in the country, surrounded by views more pleasant, air which is cleaner, more fresh foods, seemingly less stress. I wonder. I would love to see studies done, yet at what cost?

Do you remember hearing about, The Blue Zones?  People who live in the blue zones are less likely to have cancer and less chance of heart disease. Stress is less. This Saturday I am restarting my own life and will try to live the third part of my life as those in the blue zone. I will have removed one serious stressor, and introduce a way of living I started last year, but let that go and brought a stress back into my life.

We can control many stresses, and it's up to our own priorities.  Children should be taught from day one about Blue zone living and live lives as they were meant to be, away from hospitals, away from Chemo, x-rays- and all that stuff that adds to a less happier way of life later on.
Moms and dads, it's never too late. Well I am off to dust off my bike, Saturday, here I come :)

Unapproachhable, Me? For Someone Special

Shore Road, by Nancy Costa

What a compliment I received
How nice it was that he believed
        That I was unapproachable

Never it was That I couldn't be
someone to talk to, but not to see
  Because I was, approachable

However to that always a but
with a father upstairs who was a nut
who made me un-approachable

So now you see it wasn't me
but a lunatic you'd rarely see
he was unavoidable

   Looking here and watching there
I was under lock and key in fear
  The house was un-approachable

But even in my withdrawn way
I watched you walk every day
who I thought was-too much-able

I thought you were too cool for me
who would want this "kid" you see
I was undeniable

If we met and I was allowed
I would say, not my crowd
because he was just too yum-able

Some did say you were this and that
but I knew they didn't know bullcrap
Because adults are jealous of kids like you
who look so good and oh so cool
they don't take the time to look inside
or even wonder if he's that guy
but I always thought with your walk
you were more than your big talk
So I better stop now while I can
since your grown, a married man
happy now with a wonderful wife
living those old coots jealous life:)
P.S. You were John Travolta first!

Movie-A Young Adult

I saw this movie today after seeing previews. What I saw was an "as usual" movie. The previews show a few good parts. This was all about a young woman, 37 years old, lives in Mini apple as they called it, is an alcoholic with a deep seated crush on her high school sweetheart. She goes back to the small town where she grew up, re=met her old BF, who is now married with a baby and wants to bed him down-again!
She ends up meeting an old high school kid who had his locker next to hers all through HS, and of course she never noticed him. He is now using a cane, from a HS beating/hate crime. No not because he was fat, but because a rumor said he was gay, and he isn't. He was left with  a badly damaged leg and a crooked penis. Oh yeah, so exciting, He ends up with his young female friend in his bed in the basement after she got drunk again. She wakes up, talks to his sister and the sister tells her to go home and please take me with you to mini apple-this was after the Yong female alcoholic tells the sister I have s many problems and I'm an alcoholic. The sister solves all the old friends problems.
She tells her, NO YOU'RE NOT!!! Look at the life you live and on and on. So after this big life boost the young "adult" goes back into the person she was when she first entered the picture, leaves the house to return to mini apple-polis...and that's how it ended.
I rate this movie a C- not Worth the 6. bucks-yup just six, I went early, too early for ice cream, but I suffered:)

Joe Paterno-Why didn't they all do more? That Stain!

We don't understand why Joe Paterno didn't do more and why all involved and yes I say as much as I don't like to say, involved because those who stand by and do little or not enough are involved. Like many I too loved Joe Paterno and what he stood for, as I did Penn State. This past week I'm not sure how I feel about him or the University. I do know yesterday when I put a shirt on, a Penn State shirt, suddenly I looked down with a feeling of being unsure. I said the hell with it. This is mine, paid for twice, once with my education and once at the Penn State store.
It was an old short sleeve white with Blue lettering, filled with stains from years of wear. So I had two little kids visiting, finished dressing and went to my local market run by nice country people with those back country roads accents. As I picked up a pre-ordered roast, I heard a voice, looked to what he was doing as he asked to people behind the counter, does anyone want a piece of the paper, Penn State or the cartoons. I felt a shame and my face redden. Was that remark meant for me because I had that shirt on or was I being paranoid?
Either way, the boys and I went home, put the roast away, sat and talked about what we were going to do when we went out for he day. Just as we were about to leave I said hold on guys, I have to change. I went in my room and grabbed any old top. When I came out the little guy asked, as he knew how much I loved Penn State, hey where's your Penn State shirt? With simple and plain honesty a little kid could understand I said, it filled with stains. I knew he thought I meant the spotted drips of time, but I didn't.
Yesterday we went out, basketball, hiking, a playground, the library, and art museum and eating out of course and I talked to them more in depth about that stranger danger stuff. They said they knew it all, and I try to teach any kids who I may work with about this. I asked, what if you were in the bathroom at the movies and some man comes up and touches you? One said, I don't know. He's ten. The other at twelve said, I'll yell at him, you're not my father or mother. So was he telling me something else in that statement I have to report-indeed I will. I will write in into notes, and report it to about and at least four people. Or was he simply telling me It's only in appropriate if anyone other than a parent touches you anywhere, as in washing a kids face etc?
I knew then both of these boys after talking to them have been very sheltered from and with words like molestation. Since they are visiting I felt at first it isn't my place to teach them, then I said the hell with it and told them. I educated them on these things this weekend that I'm sure some grown-ups will not like as these kids have been very spiritually educated and in that, have also been verbally protected and don't know how many predators are really out to harm such innocence.
Today we are going out into crowds and I will be close, but what happens when they go to the bathroom. I am giving them whistles and have told them to yell fire and yell don't touch me like that, as loud as you can, and keep on yelling. Yes you may think if a kid yells fire it gives an opportunity for kidnapping-true-but hopefully while others are running out, I will be running in to grab two sets of hands.
As far as Joe Paterno and the other's involved in it, brings me to the old adage, if you're not with me, you're against me. That stain doesn't wash away so easily. How long do you think it stays within the victims?
