My Whirlpool Washing Machine

Well another leak, but it isn't my machine just old hoses. I love my Whirlpool washer, and now it's about twenty years old/er.. My repairman is arriving again today to repair it. He buys his materials at Lowes in York. His latest new valve has the first tread all off so he had to go back to the store, on his dime and his time to get a new one. We all know what a plumber would charge, and I am very lucky to have found this guy. Lowes should have to reimburse time and gas.
About three years ago I needed a garden roto-tilled and  found him. This guy is a hard working man, retired who loves to earn extra. It pays to have a repairman. This guy can do everything at half the cost.
Well I knew the name Whirlpool from a very young age hearing my parents and neighbors talk about what they had and liked. We were poor but they saved until they had enough for a whirlpool washing machine. We lived in a Brownstone in Brooklyn and had to hang clothes out to dry. But finally no more trips to wash clothes. We had eight kids in my family ! Eight! We took turns carrying big ugly stained bags to the laundromat . Talk about embarrassing? That was embarrassing in every sense of the word and we better wear out worst clothes for fear of something disgusting leaking through.
So a few years ago I had a plumber here who was a friend of a friend and he told me the cold water hose was leaking, not the washer itself. No wonder my water bills were higher!  So he explained I would have to get a regular plumber to fix the pipe. Well I got my repairmen to redo the cold water pipe. All was okay, and now its the hot water pipe. So day by day I take my time to see if I actually need a new washer, which just isn't affordable right now. I am learning what may cause the leak is having it on the correct setting...possibly which is what my repair guy is suggesting. No longer using the hot water I had the setting on warm wash, so is that why the leak continued? I don't know, I just don't know, but he's working on it now, so I'll let you know, soon.
Enjoy your whirlpool. By the way I think it's made by Kenmore ( Sears ). Check that out too. You know we pay more for brand names.

A Mothers' Father's Day

It doesn't matter who you are, how much or how little money you have, what kind of a home or apartment you live in, when you're children love you and you know it, that's all that counts. Today on Fathers day as in all years both my son and daughter have a race to see who calls first and of course whoever is first gets  a, well I was doing...., or, he could have or, she could have and they make so many funny comments. Usually it's, so did my sister call yet or did my brother call yet. Sometimes it's a , I know he couldn't have called because he shooting his photography races or something like that. Then I have to add, well ya see sweetie, he called before he took off for the races.
It works both ways and they're equally as funny wishing me, the mom, a Happy Fathers Day. Neither one ever forgets and today these flowers were delivered with a card about me and Lowes. Yes I love Lowes, tools and more but also appreciate the pretty stuff too. But more than that I appreciated being appreciated on Fathers Day. Thank you M&J  I love you . Your momdad :)
P.S. I love that ribbon on the Vase, will use it when making a Doozybag in two weeks

Lowes, Great Prices Flooring

Of course you know I am not happy about Lumber Liquidators and so of course too this is why I have to, want to, need to promote Lowes. Yes, I am fully aware they don't need me, but this is about business practices.
Anytime I needed to return anything at all to Lowes I would get an immediate refund. Lumber Liquidators is all over the country now, as big as LOWES, so why is it LL has such poor service with Refunds? ARE they expecting to CRASH and want to take our money with them? What are they so afraid of that they can't return a cash refund immediately?
Well after all the hassle with LL, I stopped in at Lowes and they have floors not only just as nice, but better, a nicer variety, lit of well to a customer can really tell how that floor could work in a kitchen, or where ever. I have always loved Lowes. MY experience with LL just goes to show, stick with what you know. Lowes is a company I know and a company I will purchase all of my home needs from.
      As it's said, LOWES KNOWS.

5 Week Refund Paid Cash, LumberLiquidators

Yesterday I had to return to Lumber Liquidators to get a refund of  22. and change. I was told the store does not have that much and deposited six cents the day before. So the company does not trust employees with any cash at all in the store. I had to change my order, per my mistake with Laminate verses Vinyl. On the phone the sales person said, yeah, ya don't want laminate if you expects spills. He was very nice about that.
So as I said I would, went in the next day to change my order and get back a small refund. I PAID CASH. I found the new floor and then was told (It's showing not available but the Virginia warehouse has thousands of feet) of what I wanted. The salesperson said I would have to wait until May.
No, I wasn't waiting until May, so I said I'll take a full refund. Then he said he had a friend who was a trucker driver and we could possible get it by next week. He and I talked about when I would know for certain and he said, I'll call you tonight with an answer. He called after the store closed and didn't have an answer as he relied on someone from the office in Shippensburg who didn't return his call.  Respect for employees? What happened to his friend the truck Driver? I guess I'll find out today when I go in for my full refund. The salesperson was nice and this is not his fault. I was not educated in the fact that Laminate is just like taking a picture and placing it over the floor materials, so you DO NOT WANT TO GET IT WET !
But to have to wait FIVE  WEEKS for a REFUND when I Paid CASH???? This is bull crap. I am not the only one as I looked up the corporate site in VA, and there are many like myself who, no matter how they paid are waiting five weeks for a refund !!!
Lumber Liquidators is a place to STAY AWAY from. My first and last EXPERIENCE-I'll stick to  LOWES :)

A LadiesToolbox Times Two-Ron Myrnes

Not for ladies only, however good to know stuff. Women, don't count on men to do it all as far as things that need to be fixed. It costs you in the long run and not just money. It costs you a sense of, I can do it, and Independence.

So a basic tool box consist of the usual:
       hammer,
two screwdrivers, a flat heard and a Philips.
       Screws and nails
But to go further, if you don't know, take a lesson and Lowe's is great for helping women. Buy yourself a drill with a box of assorted drill pieces. Just a  little while ago when putting a bed together I though , uh oh, I don't have  a wrench to fit this huge screw. It was a hexagon shape, so for the heck of it looked into my little box with all the different pieces to fit my drill and there it was. One that would fit the screw. I inserted it into my drill and zip...Zzz it went in like ease. Yea, I didn't need help, didn't need to learn, explored on my own and did it myself. What a feeling of satisfaction.
The past few years I somehow got way from my tools and as I did I think I lost some of that old pizazz, but now refreshed and at it again. I still do need help of course and have a guy who at times works with me and a budget.
Soon he'll be back, hanging/putting it up an awning, or installing it I should say. He is very fair with prices, works with my time and schedule but most of all is so very honest and  a decent human being. While it seems hard to find a person like that, well okay it is. I am simply very lucky to know Ron Myrnes and his work ethic. If you live in or around York Pa. Call him-887-4219

The second toolbox is for help situations with kids and yourself or anyone you know. It's called a wellness toolbox. In this box you keep, and don't forget to let your kids decorate theirs how they want, and so you place a phone number or two for friends you can call when stressed, a puzzle, a magazine, a favorite movie, a doctors phone number, the pharmacy on the same paper, a music Cd, crayons and keep  hobby stuff close by. You also need to get out. No money?
Walk, look at your town, take pictures if you have a camera-if you don't ask people if they have one they would be willing to let go and you do something in return. Change your diet. Get a friend and get creative. Walk a pet, volunteer, be a friend. Find a church. There's nothing like having faith. Good luck, stay healthy, and start that toolbox.

Appliance Parts Replaced? GO HERE! GREAT PLACE!

Hey People! It's me again. I didn't believe it when I first found a part I was looking for, for my meat slicer. I first went to some dot com site and while they were out of the part I wanted they would get it, but get this, The part was 12.99 ad S&H was 8.99  BALONEY! Did ya hear me, I said BALONEY! This is the plastic cover guide/guard for slicing. THE answer is next :)

I called Lowes. I bought my slicer a year ago to bake chicken and roast beef and slice for sandwiches and salads. Somehow I threw away the much needed part. So I called Lowes today at their toll free number 866-802-6383 and asked about the part. You won't believe the difference. The nice woman on the other end who was in North Carolina sent the address/web site to me which is:

                                    ereplacemnetparts.com

I was thrilled to see the price is 6.27 and S&H is only 3.81 !  Now this is a company to buy your parts from and thank you Lowes for being so helpful.
All I can say is, keep searching, honest companies are out there and there's more that one as I learned today.
