Greenhouses in Schools-an Answer

A year ago I asked the local schools why they don't have gardens which would be used well for kids who want to learn culinary art or gardening and even social work. I was told because we don't have summer school so no one to attend any gardens.
My idea is to start building Greenhouses at schools. If they have so much money to build many outdoor stadiums for football, and scholarships for sports, why not take some of that money and build a healthy future? An academic school could also work with a vocational school in the building process. In addition I know places such as Lowe's and Home Depot give donations and or charge a lesser amount for supplies.
Let students who want to go into architecture put their time and value ie. credits into these projects.Get some of those fat coaches into these projects. Let's go AMERICA. BUILD GREENHOUSES IN SCHOOLS. This could also be a use for community gardens. Older people and people who love gardening would love to volunteer. Yes, I know everyone needs background checks, and that's fine. But look at it this way. Community building is about people building . Let the young learn from the old and the old from the young.
This can be done. It can improve community relationships and school finances at the same time. I know my school district has a lot of property they don't use, they just mow.(talk about waste) Start now. Go to your school and ask why not. Junk out, happy bodies in. Happy bodies are healthy bodies.
One last thought. This seems off the topic but it isn't. There are many so called "different" kids in school who are bullied because they are so different. Do you know what kind of talents those kids have. Let them hang out in the gardens with the poplar kids. See who learns from whom and mix it up with good adults and what do you have? The best and healthiest salad you can ever imagine!

Neighbors, Men who bully women

How many times have we heard the saying good ol'boys. I heard something like that tonight when a male neighbor decided to blast me about how boys will be boys, boys do this, my son did his wild stuff too,(talking about his son) but first he chose to blast me, a female, not go to the other boy's home first and try to be all manly and blast the other boy's father, nah...he needed to, blow up and unload, as he told me later. Ahh , good for him. What a man. What every woman wants ina husband, a brother, friend or male role model.
Sure the kids are happy now, no legal trouble as the guy wanted to keep it between the adults and parents, or guardians. It also turned out he didn't want money for what he said was damage to his truck, but he was being a nice guy as he wanted them twice before. Why didn't he tell me the first time?

I've dealt with this Man, I say loosely, once before with another boy, and once when his wife was scratched by a cat and he came on my property trying to get a wild cat and yelling at his wife. Now will you listen to me when I tell you to do something? She stood there, meek and mild, afraid of his bark. Goooood for him.  That other boy, well the same thing happened. He came here, told me off , yelling to show the neighbors what a man he is, but never went to the homes where two other boys lived with their own fathers, no, yelling at women, seems to be a hobby. He can scare women, and children. The kids of course kiss up to him in fear of his anger, maybe pressing charges for destruction of property. What ever he would have done as far as that, fine, but to come and bully a woman?
What  a man ...oh to be fair, he did apologize later three times and said I just had to get it out and you were closer...think I'll move.

Iona at Sheetz rt.30 York Pa.

There is an older lady who works at Sheetz named Iona. What an unusual name. She is short with sandy colored-short hair. Iona took charge today, unlike any other Sheetz employees I have noticed. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I just don't spend 24/7 there.
There is a line sign telling people where to enter in order to be next in line. Many either just ignore it or don't see it. I know it's there and always get in line. See what a goody goody I am. So okay so many people who work there don't say anything and simply let others but in, walk up to the counter who I have seen look at the sign and ignore it. But no one wants to create a scene, and with the way tempers rise these days...well would you say something?
But today this guy with a shaggy look, tired and not so clean, maybe coming off a long shift at work, or long drive just went in a line made by those who ignore signs. Iona pointed out the sign. He still stood his ground. Louder, more firm she pointed to the sign and said, you have to get in line. She wasn't acting arrogant, as he was, but simply showed him, we have rules. The poor guy did get in line, three in back of me. As I was about to let him walk in front of me the line filled up fast.
I said nothing at that point.
There was something different about her today too. She was more accurate on the register and faster too. Sometimes people try to rattle older adults as they do kids.
Not this time.:)
Iona, thanks, you have courage lady!

Kids Out of Place

I spoke with a young boy today who is disillusioned with life in general. I even wents so far to ask him what should I write about, but I can't say what he did so I'll find another way.
We as parents have to start so very early with teaching kids to stand up for themselves and not to confuse that with disrespect. Bullying in the school goes on daily. Self-esteem comes from so many things, but mainly starts at home, family, friends then peers in school. There's along line of people who want to get into your kids' head and destroy his or her feeling of self-worth. What price will they pay for feeling as if they don't have any value? Here is a list:
       Food addictions
       Verbal abuse
       Drug Addiction
       Physical abuse
       Choosing friends
       Spirituality
       Sexual abuse
Education, and will they in turn treat others teh same way they have been treated? Please understand I'm not saying, although it may sound like it, that all people with low esteem issues came because mom and dad verbally abused them. Sometimes it's simply because  a kid will twist things in their own head, weight and measure what they see and hear and come out with what adds up to little self worth. That's why we need so desperately to teach them just how much they mean to us, to the world, to a friend and most of all to them selves.
Try not to tell akid how handsome they are first or how smart. They're not mature enough to write understand the worth in that. Many might take it as, oh I'm only good enough if I'm handsome, but even by then if they do that, they are already on the road to somehow thinking they're not as good as... so just tell them, I'm glad I knwo you, I'm happy you're my son/daughter etc. I know it all sounds so dumb, but remember when you werte a kid? A family member and I were always compared, I was pretty, she was smart, so yes, I grew up knowing I was stupid and she knew she was just okay looking, until we really grew up. By then I was no longer pretty anyway, but she was still smart, and I decided on my own while I make a lot of mistakes, I am by far, not stupid.
Instill the important values in a child. Treat others kindly, say hello, smile, give when you can give, be a very good friend, volunteer and love each other. I know there are many more so comment. I welcome them.
Where would we be without kids?
