Bon Ton, York Pa. Furniture! Don't buy !

Save time and aggravation and money! GO anywhere else. I realize we all have different experiences so this is mine. First I bought a sofa, delivered it was the wrong color, and I was allowed to change it. While in the store choosing another sofa, I decided I needed a chair, maybe two for family visits. My salesman was a very nice man, really nice. a total of 662.08 . The salesman stated, I don't understand why they don't sell, Lane makes a good product. I sat, appeared okay, comfortable enough in the store.
Yet still not sure I wandered over to the chair and ottoman where my new sofa sat. I sat in a very comfortable stable chair and put my feet up. This set cost 750.  I told Tom, this is sooo comfortable, and he said, yeah, but 750 for a chair when you can get two recliners? I was sucked in and bought them.
After the two new delivery men arrived, banging the sofa and storm door, I grabbed the storm door hook asking one man to unhook it. He did. It was just a fiasco. I sat in one recliner and when I went to get up, it moved sideways. The other recliner? I sat in it was barely, didn't even want to chance it. Not sure of the time line but soon after I called the store or the customer service line. They knew me from complaining about the wrong color sofa.
Here is what I was told. They will send an independent man out to check the recliner, if defective, I can exchange it for another one. WHO wants another defective recliner recliner.?  So Vincent came out, said a bolt was loose, said they always have to have a little play in them. BS!!!
He said he'd tighten it, but of course it wasn't defective. I called the store, told if I wanted to return it, it would cost a 90. pick up fee and 15% restocking fee!!! What a joke! They were going to restock a wobbly recliner and sell it to another sucker! I said no, I'll just deal with it.

Before I go on, I want to mention I did sell the other recliner for less than what I paid for it and I was lucky the man came and tried it out a lot. I told him take your time, no hurry. It didn't move when he got up.
The one I'm stuck with and paying for wobbles side to  side, hard to put back down and now get this; Vincent said it's better if I reach down for the handle and push it back into position. I never heard of that! The handle after using it to recline is almost on the floor. I am not a kid!
So here I am paying for garbage. Yes, I sit in it but barely . OH wait, I almost forgot. I have to put a pillow in the lower part to help support my back. Guess what? IT sinks down into the chair. There has to be very little stuffing in this piece of garbage. There I was grabbing the pillow, not a bed pillow, but a thick full pillow from the sofa,. I was fighting and pulling so hard to get it from the chair, like the chair was eating the pillow!  Sounds funny? Yeah in a way, but when you get the bill each month for trash, well you know you've been screwed. Go to Big Lots, Ollies before the Bon Ton, but better items at Boscovs.-Why am I not surprised the Bon Ton has closed or is closing so many stores .

Mary, Queensgate Bon Ton, Bargains, York Pa.

       Hello Area Shoppers,
I stopped in at The Bon Ton today to exchange something and as usual no problem whatsoever. I wasn't even asked for ID. I had my card and the woman behind the counter who wasn't wearing a name tag was just so sweet and simply credited back into my account. I really love shopping there and I am not a shopper. If I could I'd hire someone to shop for me. OH, I really backtracked here, almost published post-go and check out the sales they are having!
This particular store makes it a whole lot easier, even parking is a better experience, and no, I am not getting paid for this, although that would  be nice. Hey Bon Ton! So back to the people behind the counters. She is a lady name Mary. I have seen her there for quite a while and that says something about how The Bon ton must treat their employees and how the employees get along. I know many people in the work force don't get along but no one stays as long as some of the people I've seen there without at least liking the atmosphere, customers and each other.
So back to Mary. One day when I was in just before Christmas, I passed Mary as she was heading to the back of the sore. A break, lunch or quitting time she could have easily ignore me, but she didn't. After all she does her job very well at the check-out so why extend herself further to anyone. Can you imagine smiling all day at people? Well she does and then some. Mary made eye contact on her way to the back, smiled and nodded her head with a small voiced hello. Not necessary at all. Just goes to character. You know what you do when no one is looking-or paying you? That is one classy woman and The Bon Ton is so fortunate to have her. Thank you Mary for all the times you treated me with respect. I do appreciate that.

Bon Ton Stores York Pa. Kerri & Pam

Have you been shopping on a day when you knew you should have stayed home? Well this was my day. I felt ragged, haggard and jagged, still I pushed myself to get out, shop and be done. No matter what I was out of coffee and since I was going for coffee I knew I could push  it to do more. So after the coffee stop I went right to the local Bon Ton.
I had a plan and it was an orderly plan, but my first stop at the shoe department in the Bon Ton started out futile. Two days ago at Penny's I asked for my size and right away the guy said no-without even looking.I pushed him a bit and asked are you sure? So he walked in the back and came out, said all we have are these white ones, but not so much as a, I'm sorry, I can check the catalog. Maybe I was expecting more, and usually I just never expect.
So I was very surprised when the young lady behind the counter who was busy writing stuff, said well, wait I can look, that some pairs run wider, Yes, I needed a wide width. Nope, wouldn't work. She came back to the counter, said let me think a minute and then said well we have easy spirit and they have some wide widths. I followed and by did I find a kool looking pair. But nope, too small. Her name is Kerri Bankert.
After feeling disappointed about that and explaining I wanted a more dressy type footwear, not sneakers, she called on a manager, Pam Ness. What a team! With Kerri asking more questions without appearing to nag and the manager coming back twice and finally a third time after checking out the Bon Ton web site for the same shoes for me and then finding what I needed, well I am so thankful to say the least.
Because of their personal service and extending them selves the way they did, I went back into the store a second time today to shop. I prefer stores similar to the Bon Ton because of the less stress. Support your community, watch for sales or not. It's all worth it. No giant parking lots, clerks with attitude because they have been overworked to the max, long lines, and unappreciated like those too big stores seem to do.
Pam and Kerri, my day started out so sadly with a headache and an attitude that, well, I'll try again, but they probably don't have them either. Well they didn't, but went beyond, to help me find what I needed. I shopped more than I expected, but they turned my attitude around. The Bon Ton, Less Stress, a most important factor during these times.
